The Last Experience Inc./Experience Hendrix L.L.C.The Jimi Hendrix Experience‘s original lineup gave its final European performance on February 26, 1969, at London’s famed Royal Albert Hall.  Now, more than 50 years later, a film of the concert will get its world premiere at the very venue where the show took place.

The one-night-only screening of The Jimi Hendrix Experience: The Royal Albert Hall is scheduled for October 21, and will feature a giant screen and a state-of-the-art sound system. Tickets are on sale now at JimiHendrix.com, RoyalAlbertHall.com and the venue’s box office.

The movie, which has been fully restored using the original 16-millimeter footage, includes the performance shot with multiple cameras, as well as footage of Hendrix, bassist Noel Redding and drummer Mitch Mitchell in the hours leading up to the show, backstage and at an post-concert reception. The film’s soundtrack has been mixed by Jimi’s longtime studio engineer, Eddie Kramer.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience: The Royal Albert Hall is being presented jointly by Experience Hendrix, the family-run company that oversees the late guitar legend’s music and publishing, and The Last Experience Inc., the production company that partnered with Jimi to film the concert.

There currently are no plans to release the movie or show it beyond the October 21 screening.

Among the songs performed at the Royal Albert Hall were such classics as “Little Wing,” “Voodoo Child (Slight Return),” “Fire,” “Foxy Lady,” and “Stone Free.”

“This film…documents Jimi Hendrix at the very peak of his powers,” says Jimi’s sister and Experience Hendrix CEO, Janie Hendrix. “As those who are fortunate enough to see the showing next month at the very place where it was filmed will know, it has been well worth the wait and we are nothing short of delighted.”
