Courtesy of Dio Cancer FundThe list of notable rockers who are planning to participate in the fifth annual Bowl for Ronnie Celebrity Bowling Tournament, taking place November 7 at the Pinz Bowling Center in Studio City, California, has been revealed.
The event raises funds for the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund and honors the memory of the legendary heavy-metal singer, who died of stomach cancer in 2010 at age 67.
Among the many well-known musicians who are expected to attend and/or take part in the fundraiser are founding Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler, former GN’R guitarist Gilby Clarke, Ozzy Osbourne bassist Rob “Blasko” Nicholson, frequent KISS collaborator Bob Kulick, ex-Whitsnake, Foreigner and Billy Idol drummer Brian Tichy, Cinderella drummer Fred Coury, Fuel‘s Brett Scallions and Dio alums Craig Goldy, Scott Warren and Rudy Sarzo.
In addition to the bowling tournament, the event will feature open bowling, food and a raffle offering rock memorabilia and other prizes.
Tickets are available now at Eventbrite.com.
In addition, an eBay auction is taking place now through October 27 offering the winner a spot on a celebrity team captained by a popular rock radio and TV host. The 2018 edition of the team, which won the tournament, also featured Black Sabbath‘s Geezer Butler, Jack Black, Tom Morello and ex-Whitesnake guitarist Doug Aldrich.
The winning bidder also gets to attend a VIP pre-party, and receives a “Bowl for Ronnie” shirt and swag bag of goodies.
Last year’s event raised a record $74,000 for the Dio Cancer Fund, which supports research and seeks to educate people about the early detection, prevention and treatment of prostate, colon and stomach cancer. Visit DioCancerFund.org for more information and to donate to the charity.
