The 2020 event will take place June 19 to June 21 at its usual location, Infinity Downs and Oak Ridge Farm in Arrington, Virginia.
“I am honored that [festival co-founder] Peter [Shapiro] and the LOCKN’ family are throwing me the most special kind of birthday bash this year!” says Lesh. “It’s perfect because I’ve had so much fun there over the years — not just playing, but also getting to hang out and spend time with good friends and collaborators, some of whom I have just met and others whom I have been playing with since this all began.”
Adds Shapiro, “We’re going to celebrate Phil’s 80th the LOCKN’ way…He means so much to all of us, and we really are determined to give him the best party he’s ever had.”
“Lockn’ ‘Lumni” three-day passes for next year’s fest will go on sale this Friday, November 8, at 8:08 a.m. ET, and are priced at $219. Use the promo code “GR8TEFUL” to access the passes. A variety of VIP perks and packages will be offered at CIDEntertainment.com.
For an added $30 fee, you can attend a special June 18 “Steal Your Thursday” pre-festival event featuring a “Jerry Dance Party,” an immersive psychedelic audio/visual experience set to the music of Jerry Garcia and The Grateful Dead and held on the main stage.
Lesh’s actual 80th birthday is March 15, 2020.
