MIG MusicA two-CD/DVD set documenting a star-studded 2015 London tribute show honoring late Cream singer/bassist Jack Bruce, which was held on the eve of the first anniversary of Bruce’s death, is available now.
Sunshine of Your Love: A Concert for Jack Bruce features renditions of classic Cream songs and tunes from Jack’s solo projects. The line up for the show, which took place October 24, 2015, at the Roundhouse in London, includes Cream drummer Ginger Baker, Jethro Tull‘s Ian Anderson, Roxy Music‘s Phil Manzanera, Living Colour‘s Vernon Reid, ex-Scorpions guitarist Uli Jon Roth, Level 42‘s Mark King, founding Whitesnake members Bernie Marsden and Neil Murray, Humble Pie‘s Clem Clempson, and singer Joss Stone.
Jack’s children, Aruba Red and Corin Jack Bruce, and his nephew Nico Bruce performed as well. Award winning composer and multi-instrumentalist Nitin Sawhney served as the event’s musical director.
The concert, which was organized by the Bruce family, raised money for Jack’s favorite charity, East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices. Sales of the CD/DVD set also will benefit the charity.
Cream guitarist Eric Clapton was unable to take part in the show, but an acoustic instrumental track he composed in tribute to Bruce has been included on one of the CDs. Bruce died of liver disease on October 25, 2014, at age 71.
In other news, Clapton recently paid tribute to Ginger Baker, who died on October 6 at the age of 80, by posting an acoustic instrumental version of the song “Danny Boy” he recorded on his official Facebook page and Clyp.it.
