Jackson Browne joining James Taylor for US tour launching in May

Nels Israelson; Norman SeeffJackson Browne has got a friend, and tour mate, in James Taylor. The two acclaimed singer/songwriters and Rock & Roll Hall of Famers will team up this year for a late-spring/early-summer tour of the U.S. that kicks off May 15 in New Orleans and is scheduled to wind down with a July 10 concert in Camden, New Jersey.

The cross-country trek will visit a total of 26 cities, including Houston; Fort Worth, Texas; Salt Lake City; Boise, Idaho; Tacoma, Washington; Portland, Oregon; San Francisco; Anaheim, California; San Diego; Chicago; Clarkston, Michigan; Pittsburgh; Louisville, Kentucky; Memphis, Tennessee; Nashville; Atlanta; and Wantagh, New York.

Tickets for most of the shows go on sale to the general public on Friday, February 7, at 10 a.m. local time. A limited number of presale tickets will be available starting Tuesday, February 4, at JamesTaylor.com.

If you purchase a ticket online, you’ll  also will receive a CD or digital copy of Taylor’s just-announced new album of standards, America Standard, which will be released February 28.

Besides the tour dates with Taylor, Browne also will play a sold-out joint show with Shawn Colvin on February 19 in Telluride, Colorado, and will take part in the fourth-annual edition of the star-studded Love Rocks NYC benefit concert on March 12 at New York City’s Beacon Theatre.

As for Taylor, prior to the trek with Browne he’ll tour Canada with Bonnie Raitt from April 14 through May 5. He also has a special show scheduled for Boston’s Fenway Park on June 21 with Colvin and Brandi Carlile, as well as a Fourth of July concert at Tanglewood in Lenox, Massachusetts, that’ll be followed by a fireworks display.
