Hachette BooksPeter Frampton will tell his life story in a new autobiography titled Do You Feel Like I Do?: A Memoir, which will be published on October 20.
The book, which the guitar whiz is co-writing with acclaimed music journalist Alan Light, delves into Peter’s long career, from becoming a teen pop star in the U.K., through his tenure with blues rockers Humble Pie, to achieving rock idol status with the massively successful Frampton Comes Alive! album and beyond.
Also in the memoir, Frampton shares anecdotes about collaborating with George Harrison, touring with David Bowie, and discusses his reluctance at becoming a heartthrob in the wake of Frampton Comes Alive! along with his struggles with substance abuse. The book also details his recent battle with the inflammatory muscular disease, inclusion body myositis.
In addition, the book includes the story of how Peter was reunited with his favorite guitar in 2011 after he thought the instrument was gone forever when it disappeared following a 1980 plane crash.
“This is my journey,” Frampton says of the book. “All I ever wanted to do was play guitar and it’s taken me many different places — physically and mentally. I’ve been to the moon and back without a rocket, but also to the depths of despair.”
He adds, “You never stop paying your dues. Failure has been my greatest inspiration. I brush myself off and then I want to ‘do it again.’ Do You Feel Like I Do?”
