The message also reveals that the show was recorded for an AXS TV special that will air on March 22.

The concert featured performances by Sammy Hagar, REO Speedwagon‘s Kevin Cronin and Dave Amato, George Thorogood, Starship singer Mickey Thomas, Greg Kihn, Tommy Tutone, John Waite and Metallica frontman James Hetfield.

Veteran session guitarist Waddy Wachtel also performed, as did three of Money’s children — daughter Jesse and sons Dez and Julian. Comedian Louie Anderson hosted the show, while Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak was on hand to share memories of Eddie and his performance at the 1982 US Festival, which the computer mogul sponsored.

In addition, a number of celebrities sent video messages honoring Money, among them Joan Jett, Huey Lewis, Bryan Adams, ex-Styx singer Dennis DeYoung, John Cafferty, Boston and actor Kevin James.

“We have been overwhelmed by the generosity and genuine love expressed by his music industry peers, as well as his fans (he always preferred the word, ‘friends’),” the note reads. “Words cannot express how much it means to our family to know that so many others also love and miss him, so a simple ‘THANK YOU’ will have to do.”

Eddie died in September 2019 at age 70, a few weeks after revealing he’d been diagnosed with stage-four esophageal cancer.
