UMeThe new archival Cream box set, Goodbye Tour — Live 1968, featuring complete recordings of four shows that the legendary British power trio played during its farewell trek, arrived today after its release date was pushed back from February 7.

The four-CD collection includes their performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall on November 26, 1968, the very last show that the famed trio of Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker played before their breakup.  It also includes performances that took place October 4 in Oakland, California, in the Los Angeles area October 19, and October 20 in San Diego.

Goodbye Tour — Live 1968 features a total of 36 tracks, 19 of which are previously unreleased. In addition, the nine songs from the Royal Albert Hall show have never before been available on CD.

All of the concerts featured similar set lists that included classics like “White Room,” “Politician,” “I’m So Glad,” “Sunshine of Your Love” and the group’s rendition of Robert Johnson‘s “Crossroads.”

Three performances from the L.A.-area show — “I’m So Glad,” “Politician” and “Sitting on Top of the World” — first appeared on Cream’s 1969 album, Goodbye, which also included three studio tracks.

In other news, Clapton took part in a star-studded charity concert this past Tuesday at London’s O2 Arena.  Dubbed Music for the Marsden, it raised funds for The Royal Marsden cancer charity.

The rock legend played guitar behind Van Morrison for three tunes, and also performed his own three-song set, which featured the blues classics “Key to the Highway,” “Stormy Monday” and “Crossroads.” You can check out fan-recorded footage of Eric’s performance on YouTube.
