Credit: Roberto FinizioSantana has joined the list of artists canceling tour dates over fears about the COVID-19 coronavirus.
According to a message posted on Santana.com, the famous band has shelved the 13 European shows it had scheduled in March and April as part of its Miraculous 2020 World Tour, “due to public health concerns and European travel and performance restrictions.”
The canceled dates span from a March 17 cocnert in Krakow, Poland, through an April 5 performance Helsinki, Finland. Refunds for the tickets will be available at the point of purchase.
“It is with great disappointment that I have to inform our fans that we are cancelling our upcoming Europe Tour,” says Michael Vrionis, president of Santana’s Universal Tone Management company. “Many countries have made the decision to restrict public gatherings in excess of 1,000 people to curb the potential spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19). While we deeply regret this unfortunate circumstance, the safety of our fans is the main priority for the Santana Organization.”
He adds, “We will keep you all informed of new performance dates as they are made, and will make every effort to return to Europe soon.”
Guitarist Carlos Santana and his group’s next scheduled concerts are a run of Las Vegas residency shows at the House of Blues that begins May 13. The band also is slated to launch the Miraculous Supernatural 2020 Tour, a lengthy joint North American summer trek with Earth, Wind & Fire, on June 19 in Chula Vista, California.
