MVD VisualA recent documentary about late Rolling Stones member Brian Jones and the mystery surrounding his death titled Rolling Stone: Life and Death of Brian Jones will be released on DVD on June 12.

The film follows Jones’ story, from founding and being the original leader of The Rolling Stones, to his struggles with drug abuse that led to his June 1969 firing from the band to his death just one month later.

Brian’s death, which occurred at his Cotchford Farm estate in Hatfield, England, was ruled an accidental drowning — “death by misadventure” — although many believe it was the result of foul play. The film explores some of the theories on what caused Jones’ death.

The DVD contains some bonus features, including behind-the-scenes footage, deleted scenes, and a look at the files of U.K. journalist Scott Jones, who had amassed hundreds of pages of documents featuring information related to Brian’s death.

Rolling Stone: Life and Death of Brian Jones was directed by Danny Garcia, whose previous films include documentaries about The Clash, New York Dolls guitarist Johnny Thunders, Sex Pistols bassist Sid Vicious and Dead Boys singer Stiv Bators.
