A star-packed online telethon called All Together Now!, which raised money for the L.A. Emergency COVID-19 Crisis Fund, took place Saturday, and featured performances and appearances by a variety of well-known musicians and other celebrities.
The lineup for event, which ran for more than eight hours, featured such veteran rock artists as Paul Rodgers, The Beach Boys, Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello, ex-Wings members Denny Laine and Laurence Juber, former Doobie Brothers guitarist Jeff “Skunk” Baxter and Starship frontman Mickey Thomas.
Rodgers contributed a concert video featuring him performing his classic Free tune “All Right Now” with his solo band, while The Beach Boys offered up a composite clip showing lead singer Mike Love and the other members of the band’s current lineup, along with actor John Stamos on drums, performing “Good Vibrations” separately.
Similarly, Winger‘s Kip Winger put together a specially created composite video featuring a performance of the band’s 2014 song “Better Days Comin'” that included guest vocals by Alice Cooper, ex-Grand Funk Railroad frontman Mark Farner, The Scorpions‘ Klaus Meine and many others.
The telethon was streamed live at AllTogetherNowLA.org, and can be viewed now at the Los Angeles TV station ABC 7’s official YouTube channel.
The L.A. Emergency COVID-19 Crisis Fund helps in-need families, small businesses and homeless people in Los Angeles during the pandemic, supports healthcare workers and funds coronavirus research.
Among the many other artists who either performed, contributed videos or delivered messages during the telethon were Smokey Robinson, The Monkees‘ Micky Dolenz, Jesse Colin Young, Everclear‘s Art Alexakis, Harry Shearer of Spinal Tap fame, Peter Asher, T Bone Burnett, Carole King, Rick Springfield, Men at Work‘s Colin Hay, The Bangles‘ Debbi Peterson, Rolling Stones backing singer Bernard Fowler, Alan Parsons, MC5‘s Wayne Kramer and Brian Auger.
