Lobster Interviews Guitar Goddess Orianthi

Orianthi is on several lists of the Top Ten Female Guitarists of All Time. She was recruited by Michael Jackson for the This Is It Tour. Her comeback from the tragedy was the international hit “According To You.”  Her new album will be released in November, and 97.7 The River aired her shredding first single “Sinner’s Hymn.”

An Australian of Greek decent, Orianthi Penny Paragaris was born on January 22, 1985. At age 11 she switched from Classical Guitar to Blues based Rock after seeing Carlos Santana. As a teenager her band opened down under for ZZ Top. Orianthi is a go-to guitarist gunslinger.

Lobster spoke with Orianthi while she was rehearsing for a live internet broadcast from the world famous Whiskey A Go Go in Hollywood, with only her band, crew and a 5 camera shoot for veep.com. Clips from the interview aired on Sunday, September 20th during Lobster’s Sunday Brunch, along with her songs, Black Sabbath (and a funny story about how her neighbors called security when she was learning “War Pigs”) Alice Cooper, Bon Jovi and a never heard before version of “Sharp Dressed Man” with Billy F. Gibbons, ZZ Ward and others.

This is the exclusive, unedited, deep dive full 35 minute conversation. A fun run through her incredible career including inside information about touring as the lead guitarist with Alice Cooper, her partnership with Richie Sambora, her Covid-19 positive test scare during the preparations for the live broadcast, and what her motivations are as a musician and music lover.
