ABCJust a reminder that ABC will air a new special called The Year in Memoriam 2017 tonight at 10 p.m. ET that pays tribute to the many beloved celebrities who we’ve lost this year. The hour-long program will include tributes to Tom Petty, Chuck Berry and many other stars.
The special will feature a variety of guest stars who will pay homage to the late legends. Alice Cooper, Sean Penn, Melissa Etheridge, Ben Harper and country singer Hunter Hayes will appear in the segment honoring Petty, while Cooper, Etheridge, Hayes, Paul Shaffer and Darius Rucker will be featured in the Berry tribute.
The show was conceived by talk-show host Jimmy Kimmel and will be emceed by Robin Roberts.
Among the other late stars whose lives and legacies will be saluted during the show are Mary Tyler Moore, Jerry Lewis, Don Rickles, Glen Campbell and David Cassidy.
Meanwhile, a companion special anchored by Roberts, titled The Year: 2017 that will look at the major events that took place during the past 12 months, airs on ABC Tuesday, December 19, at 9 p.m. ET.
