Peter C. Pardini; Randee St. NicholasChicago and REO Speedwagon both have plenty of tour dates lined up this year already, but the veteran rock acts have found time in their busy schedules to line up a lengthy joint North American summer tour.
The co-headlining trek, which features more than 30 dates, kicks off June 13 in Concord, California, and is scheduled through an August 12 show in the Detroit suburb of Clarkston, Michigan.
Tickets for most of the shows are scheduled to go on sale to the general public this Friday, February 9, at 12 p.m. local time via LiveNation.com.
Chicago singer/keyboardist Robert Lamm says of the trek, “It’s always a party sharing the stage with [REO’s] Kevin [Cronin], Neal [Doughty], Bruce [Hall], Dave [Amato] and Bryan [Hitt]! They rock. We rock. The tour rocks!”
Adds Cronin, “We love the Chicago guys. We all share that Midwest rock ‘n’ roll ethic. We work hard, rock hard & take care of business.”
As with their other 2018 shows, Chicago will be playing their classic 1970 album Chicago II in its entirety followed by a long set of their memorable hits.
Chicago’s 2018 itinerary gets underway with a multi-show Las Vegas engagement at The Venetian Theatre that starts this Wednesday, February 7. Prior to the launch of the tour with REO, the band has various headlining dates plotted out through a May 23 concert in Knoxville, Tennessee.
As for REO Speedwagon, they have a variety of shows mapped out from a March 8 concert in Joliet, Illinois, through a December 9 gig in Deadwood, South Dakota, including a joint trek with Styx and ex-Eagles guitarist Don Felder running from mid-March to mid-April.
