Courtesy of Eagle Rock EntertainmentThe Magpie Salute, the Black Crowes spinoff group led by guitarist Rich Robinson, has announced plans to release its first studio album later this year.
“We’ve just started recording our first original music for release this summer,” says Robinson. “We can’t wait to see you out there on the road.”
The band, which also includes ex-Crowes guitarist Marc Ford and bassist Sven Pipien, is working on the project now at a Nashville studio.
A video recorded during the sessions for the upcoming album — featuring Robinson, Ford and Magpie Salute singer John Hogg performing a live acoustic version of the Ronnie Lane-penned Faces tune “Richmond” — has been posted on the band’s official YouTube channel.
The Magpie Salute released its self-titled debut album in June 2017. The 10-track collection features nine songs that were captured live in front of an audience in Woodstock, New York, and one original studio recording called “Omission” that Robinson and Hogg co-wrote.
The group, which formed in 2016, already has done extensive touring. More dates are expected to be announced soon.
