Bludgeon Riffola/Mercury/UMeDef Leppard has announced plans to release four box sets spanning the British rockers’ entire recording career and that will be available both on CD and vinyl. The first installment, titled The CD Box Set: Volume One and The Vinyl Box Set: Volume One, will be released on June 1, shortly after the band kicks off a massive North American tour with Journey.
The CD and vinyl packages both include remastered versions of Def Leppard’s first four studio albums — 1980’s On Through the Night, 1981’s High ‘n’ Dry, 1983’s Pyromania and 1987’s Hysteria — the 1979 mini-album The Def Leppard E.P.; a new colllection of B-sides and other rare tracks titled Rarities Volume 1 that was compiled by singer Joe Elliott; and Live at the LA Forum 1983, which previously was only available as a bonus disc as part of the deluxe CD version of Pyromania.
The box sets also include a hardcover book featuring rare photos taken by photographer Ross Halfin, liner notes by respected rock writer Paul Elliott, and introductions penned by band members Joe Elliott, Rick Savage, Rick Allen and Phil Collen.
The Vinyl Box Set: Volume One features eight LPs pressed on 180-gram vinyl, including two-disc versions of Pyromania and Live at the LA Forum 1983. The Def Leppard E.P., meanwhile, appears as a seven-inch disc.
For The CD Box Set: Volume One, Pyromania and Live at the LA Forum 1983 are featured as single discs, while The Def Leppard E.P. appears as a three-inch CD.
Def Leppard’s 2018 tour with Journey kicks off May 21 in Hartford, Connecticut.
