Rhino RecordsThe Grateful Dead will issue a special edition of its classic album Anthem of the Sun, in celebration of the album’s 50th anniversary.
The new release will be available in CD and vinyl, with the CD edition to feature a total of three discs: a remaster of the original album’s mix, a remastered version of a more well-known 1971 mix, and a bonus disc of the Dead’s October 22, 1967 show at Winterland, which was its first-ever with drummer Mickey Hart.
The vinyl version will be a picture disc, limited to 10,000 copies.
Both CD and vinyl arrive in stores and digital outlets on July 13 — just in time for you to take them home and cue them up on July 18, the 50th anniversary of the album’s original release.
