
Courtesy Shore Fire MediaFaith No More bassist Billy Gould has joined the lineup for MC50, the band put together to celebrate the 50th anniversary of legendary Detroit proto-punk outfit MC5.
Led by founding MC5 member Wayne Kramer, MC50 also includes Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil, Fugazi drummer Brendan Canty and singer Marcus Durant of the band Zen Guerrilla. Gould joins in place of King’s X bassist Dug Pinnick, who was originally announced as the group’s bass player.
Soundgarden and Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron, Greg Dulli of The Afghan Whigs and Detroit musician and producer Don Was will also be guest performers with MC50.
MC50 will embark on a U.S. tour starting September 5 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. As a preview of their live show, the band has released a video of themselves performing the MC5 song “Come Together” during their recent European tour.
