BMGDavid Crosby has revealed full details of his upcoming studio album, which is titled Here If You Listen and will be released October 26. As Crosby previously revealed, the record was a collaboration with multi-instrumentalist Michael League of jazz collective Snarky Puppy, singer/guitarist Becca Stevens and singer/songwriter Michelle Willis, all of whom also worked with David on his 2016 solo effort, Lighthouse.
Here If You Listen continues a prolific period for Crosby that’s seen the 77-year-old folk-rock legend release three other albums over the last four years — 2014’s Croz and Lighthouse and 2017’s Sky Trails. The new album features David sharing songwriting and vocal duties with the trio of League, Stevens and Willis, which he refers to as his “Lighthouse Band.”
“If leaving a group like Crosby, Stills & Nash was like jumping off a cliff, then finding the Lighthouse Band was like growing wings halfway down,” explains Crosby of his collaborators. “These three people are so startlingly talented, I literally couldn’t resist making this album with them.”
Here If You Listen was produced by League, with co-production help from Crosby, Stevens and Willis. The album is a stripped-down, acoustic effort showcasing multi-layered harmonies.
You can check out the album’s first single, the sparse and atmospheric “Glory,” on the BMG label’s official SoundCloud page.
As previously reported, Crosby will hit the road with League, Stevens and Willis for a fall U.S. tour that’s plotted out from a November 2 concert in Seattle through a December 2 show in Port Chester, New York.
