Courtesy of Dio Cancer FundThe fourth annual Bowl for Ronnie Celebrity Bowling Tournament, takes place tonight at the Pinz Bowling Center in Studio City, California. The event raises funds for the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund, and honors the memory of the legendary heavy-metal singer, who died of stomach cancer in 2010 at age 67.
Among the many well-known rockers who will attend and/or participate in the event are founding Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler, one-time AC/DC and Dio drummer Simon Wright, ex-Dio/Whitesnake guitarist Doug Aldrich, Rage Against the Machine‘s Tom Morello, former GN’R guitarist Gilby Clarke and Alice Cooper bassist Chuck Garric.
In addition to the bowling tournament, the event will feature a raffle offering signed rock memorabilia, as well as a specially designed bowling ball and bowling pin featuring the Bowl for Ronnie artwork.
Last year’s event raised $49,000 for the Dio Cancer Fund, which supports research and seeks to educate people about the early detection, prevention and treatment of prostate, colon and stomach cancer. Visit DioCancerFund.org for more information and to donate to the charity.
