During a Q&A on Corgan’s Instagram Story, a fan asked the musician how he would feel about a Pumpkins biopic akin to the new Queen film, Bohemian Rhapsody.
“Will never happen,” Corgan wrote. “Glad to see [Freddie Mercury‘s] incredible life and talent celebrated, though.”
Elsewhere in the Q&A, Corgan revealed that The Pumpkins have “discussed” the possibility of playing a one-off show of just songs from before the band’s 1991 debut album, Gish.
Corgan also wrote about the reaction to the new Pumpkins album, Shiny and Oh So Bright, Vol. 1/LP: No Past. No Future. No Sun., the band’s first to feature original members James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin in 18 years.
“Fan reaction has been great and encouraged us to record more,” Corgan said. “[Chamberlin] and I listen to pre-album demos today to start the process for 2019 Vol 2 sessions.”
The Smashing Pumpkins are currently touring the U.S. in celebration of their 30th anniversary.
