Courtesy of Flower Power Concerts Inc.An eclectic group of artists are coming together for a fall U.S. tour paying tribute to The Beatles‘ classic 1968 self-titled album, a.k.a. The White Album.
The trek, dubbed “It Was Fifty Years Ago Today — Tour 2019,” will kick off September 21 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and will feature The Monkees‘ Micky Dolenz, Todd Rundgren, Christopher Cross, Joey Molland of Badfinger and ex-Chicago singer Jason Scheff.
The tour includes 17 concerts in the Northeast and Midwest, and is mapped out through an October 20 show in Washington, D.C., although more dates are expected to be added to the outing.
At the concerts, the artists will perform select songs from the Fab Four’s classic double album, as well as memorable tunes from their own careers.
Among the classic songs on The White Album: “Back in the U.S.S.R.,” “Dear Prudence,” “Glass Onion,” “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da,” “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,” “Blackbird,” “I Will,” “Julia,” “Birthday,” “Helter Skelter” and “Revolution.”
Joey Curatolo, who serves as musical director for the popular stage show RAIN: A Tribute to The Beatles, will fill that same role for this tour.
