The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame trio then visited Europe in June and July before mounting a lengthy U.S. leg that launched in August and featured support from Cheap Trick on most dates. ZZ Top also played a couple of concerts with Lynyrd Skynyrd in late August during the first week of the trek.

The blues-rock boogie veterans also marked their 50th anniversary by releasing a new documentary called ZZ Top: That Little Ol’ Band from Texas that premiered in August. The film features new interviews with the band’s three members — singer/guitarist Billy Gibbons, bassist Dusty Hill and drummer Frank Beard — plus rare archival footage, animated segments and conversations with celebrity fans Billy Bob Thornton and Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme. The movie will be released on DVD and Blu-ray in February 2020.
