Dave Mustaine says he's “100 percent free of cancer”

Credit: Jeremy SafferHere’s some happy news from Dave Mustaine: The Megadeth frontman says he’s officially cancer free.

Mustaine, who announced last summer that he’d been diagnosed with throat cancer, revealed the welcome update on stage during Megadeth’s show in London last Friday.

“It was 51 radiation treatments and nine chemo treatments,” Mustaine told the crowd. “When it was all said and done, everyday I would think, ‘I can’t face not playing again.'”

He added, “On October 16, I went to go see the doctor, and he said, ‘You’re 100 percent free of cancer,'” which, naturally, got a big reaction from the audience.

Megadeth is currently touring Europe with Five Finger Death Punch. The thrash legends are also expected to resume recording their new album, the follow-up to 2016’s Dystopia.
