Scott Legato/Getty ImagesYes guitarist Steve Howe has two interesting projects arriving a day apart next month. The first is a memoir called All My Yesterdays, in stores on April 16, and the second is a new solo album titled Love Is that will be released on April 17.
In All My Yesterdays, Howe reflects on his 50-year-plus career, which in addition to his long history with Yes includes working with such other groups as Tomorrow, Asia, GTR and Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman and Howe. He’s also had a prolific solo career.
Among the highlights in the book are Steve’s memories of jamming live with Jimi Hendrix and working at Abbey Road Studios at the same time as The Beatles. All My Yesterdays also include some previously unseen photos and a complete discography. The book is the first autobiography ever written by a Yes member.
As for the Love Is album, Howe says it features “an equal balance of guitar instrumentals and songs, which presents a symmetric balance of the things I do.”
Steve handles lead vocals on the record, as well as guitars, and some keyboards percussion and bass on the instrumental tracks. Current Yes singer Jon Davison contributes harmony vocals and plays bass on select songs, while Howe’s son Dylan plays drums throughout the entire album.
As previously reported, Yes has canceled a series of U.S. shows this month and pulled out of its appearance on the 2020 Cruise to the Edge because of insurance issues and health concerns regarding the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
The band is scheduled to launch a European tour on April 24 in Lisbon, Portugal. Those shows will include a full performance of the group’s 1974 album Relayer plus classic tunes from throughout Yes’ long career.
