ABC/Randy HolmesThree U.K. events originally scheduled for late March and early April that were to have featured Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour joining his wife, author and lyricist Polly Samson, to promote her new novel, A Theatre for Dreamers, have been postponed until September.
A message posted on Gilmour’s Twitter feed and on PollySamson.com reports that the events, dubbed “A Theatre for Dreamers — An Evening of Words and Music with Polly Samson and David Gilmour,” which had been scheduled for March 30 in Birmingham, March 31 in Manchester and April 2 in London, now will take place, respectively, on September 10, September 9 and September 11.
People who purchased tickets for the events will receive a signed copy of the book and a photo of Gilmour and his wife signed by them both, which will be sent out during the week of March 30. Visit Samson’s official website for details about receiving a ticket refund.
As previously reported, David had planned to perform a new song at the events called “Yes, I Have Ghosts,” which he co-wrote with Samson and was inspired by the book.
A Theatre for Dreamers, which will be published on April 2, is set in 1960 on the Greek island of Hydra [EE-drah], and focuses on a circle of artists and writers who lived there, including the real-life Canadian singer-songwriter and poet Leonard Cohen and his lover and muse, Marianne Ihlen.
Samson, who married Gilmour in 1994, contributed lyrics to most of the songs on Pink Floyd’s 1994 album, The Division Bell, and on David’s last two solo albums — 2006’s On an Island and 2015’s Rattle That Lock.
