The good news is that, as bassist David Ellefson tells The Metal Voice, the band’s upcoming new album is “written and ready to be recorded.” The bad news is that they can’t actually record the album at the moment, what with the whole pandemic thing going on.
“We were going to start recording it toward the end of March but of course COVID-19 happened,” Ellefson explains. “We were going to go to Nashville and start cutting tracks for the album but with everything shutting down we obviously had to postpone.”
“Once the lock down lifts and it is safe we will be ready to rock ASAP,” he adds.
The new album will be the follow-up to 2016’s Dystopia.
Meanwhile, Megadeth is scheduled to launch a U.S. co-headlining tour with Lamb of God in June, but we’ll see if that still happens amid all the cancellations and postponements as a result of the pandemic.
