DMG LiveThe latest installment of King Crimson‘s Elements series of two-CD box sets, titled The Elements of King Crimson 2017 Tour Box, will be released June 16. The new collection mixes recent and vintage live performances, with segments of rehearsal and studio recordings, full tracks, alternate takes and more spanning from 1969 to 2016.

All of King Crimson’s lineups are represented on the box set, which features an extract of the prog-rock veterans’ classic early tune “21st Century Schizoid Man,” featuring original frontman Greg Lake. The compilation’s second disc showcases various versions of every part of the group’s epic “Lark’s Tongue in Aspic” composition, including live performances from 1974, 1984, 2003, 2015 and 2016.

The 2017 Elements box set features a 24-page booklet that includes sleeve notes, memorabilia and photos, and information about last year’s King Crimson tour. The package’s arrival coincides with the launch of the band’s latest North American tour, which gets underway with a June 11-13 stand in Seattle and runs through a July 9-10 engagement in Red Bank, New Jersey.

Meanwhile, King Crimson has just issued a new concert EP titled Heroes — Live in Europe 2016 in honor of the upcoming 40th anniversary of David Bowie‘s classic song “Heroes,” on which Crimson leader Robert Fripp played. The five-song disc features a cover of “Heroes” recorded in Berlin last year and four other songs performed during the group’s 2016 European outing.
