Metallica's Lars Ulrich knighted in home country of Denmark

ABC/Randy HolmesLars Ulrich can now add “knight” to his resume. The Metallica drummer has been honored with the Knight’s Cross of the Dannebrog Order in his home country of Denmark, according to Danish publication Ekstra Bladet.

Ulrich was born in Denmark, but he moved to the U.S. as a teenager to train to become a professional tennis player. Instead, he ended up meeting James Hetfield, and they formed Metallica.

Metallica is currently touring the U.S. in support of their new album, Hardwired…to Self-Destruct. Ulrich will return to Denmark with the metal legends September 2 to play Copenhagen’s Royal Arena.
