Sonoma County Focus – Santa Rosa Urban Arts Partnership

Host Michelle Marques talks with Spring Maxfield, Director of the Santa Rosa Urban Arts Partnership about the non-profit and her efforts to facilitate creative, engaging art experiences for the people of Santa Rosa. The Santa Rosa Urban Arts Partnership began in 2017 to help the city bring back vitality to Juilliard Park. Art is a vital part of keeping communities healthy and engaged, and it can and SHOULD be a viable way for creatives to make a living and participate in the local economy. For the past three years, SR Urban Arts Partnership has been involved in producing the WinterBlast event in the South A Street Art District (SOFA), and now is producing the West End Block Party and Summer Market at the area around the DeTurk Round Barn just north of Railroad Square on Sunday, June 30th. There will likely be additional West End Block Party events as the summer continues. There is also an Art Alley Mural project open to interested artists, and Santa Rosa's 1st Annual Open Studios for Santa Rosa Artists. Learn more and get involved at srurbanarts.org.

Sonoma County Focus – The LIME Foundation 2024 Believe the Dream Gala

Host Michelle Marques talks with Letitia Hanke, Executive Director of The LIME Foundation about the upcoming 2024 Believe the Dream Gala on September 12th, from 6pm to 9pm at the Graton Event Center. The fundraiser will support all of the different initiatives and programs of The LIME Foundation, including the very successful and popular NextGen Trades Academy that introduces at risk youth to the trades, with multiple classes each year. Students get online and in person training not only in the various careers available in the trades like roofing, plumbing, and solar, but they also get basic life skills like learning how to budget, how to invest, stress management and more. Experts in the field share their experience with students, and many graduates of the program are able to jump right into the fields they are interested in after completing the course. The NextGen Revolution is expanding to other fields beyond the trades, and is now signing up youth interested in working in the auto industry, culinary arts, aviation, and space! Learn more by clicking here. The 2024 Believe the Dream Gala will feature entertainment (including from a celebrity guest), food, beverages, auction lots, dancing, and more! Get tickets today at believelime.com.
Sonoma County Focus – Sonoma County Imagination Library

Host Michelle Marques talks with Angie Dillon-Shore, Executive Director of First 5 Sonoma County about the launch of Sonoma County's new Dolly Parton's Imagination Library! This incredible program puts free books into the hands of children ages 0 to 5 years old. Each month, children are sent a book that is age appropriate, and it is theirs to keep, to read with their family, and to cherish as they build language skills and a love for reading. Books are available in English and in bilingual English-Spanish versions. The Dollywood Foundation makes this program possible, along with the Community Foundation Sonoma County, First 5 Sonoma County, and support from the State of California. A personal library of books in the home is proven to positively benefit very young children in so many ways. They learn cognitive skills, language skills, improved imagination and creativity, and increase nurturing relationships with their caregivers. Sign up your child today at www.sonomacf.org/scil! You can also donate to help support this amazing program. Because of generous support from a variety of organizations, it only costs about $13 per year for a child to get a free book every month. Donate $65 and you can fund 5 years of books for a child!!
