Sugarloaf Ridge State Park New Volunteer Orientation

February 22 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

2021-12-04-volunteer-social-by-alma-shaw-1-png-3

When you join Sugarloaf’s 200+ member volunteer community, you gain access to a whole new appreciation for your local State Park. Make meaningful connections with fellow volunteers, learn new skills, enjoy time outdoors in a beautiful setting, and play an integral role in keeping Sugarloaf Ridge State Park open and accessible for everyone.

Join us at our next volunteer orientation to learn what it takes to steward a state park! We’ll cover the history of Sugarloaf, how Sonoma Ecology Center operates the park, and the various volunteer opportunities available. Beyond the mandatory initial orientation, trainings and docent enrichment activities will take place periodically, depending on your interests and role.

Here are some of the vital ways that volunteers support Sugarloaf’s operations:

Serve as docents at the Visitor Center
Direct visitors at the entrance kiosk
Assist with data collection and entry, like our extensive Critter Cam wildlife tracking project
Aid project research and grant-writing
Work on trail and park maintenance projects
Facilitate special events and parking

Spanish/English literacy and conversational fluency is a plus. Experience is not necessary but welcomed, as well as a willingness to learn and the desire to share that knowledge with our visitors. We ask for a minimum commitment of 4 hours per month.
